Where Cocaine Originated

Pure cocaine was first extorted from the leaves of the Erythroxylon coca bush, which grows principally in Peru and Bolivia in the middle of the 19th century. In the early 1900s, it was the main stimulant drug used in the majority of the tonics/elixirs that were urbanized to treat a broad variety of illnesses. Nowadays, cocaine has a prospective for maltreatment, but it can be used by a doctor for legal medical uses, such as a local anesthetic for some eye, ear and throat surgeries.

** Cocaine was once used in the drink Coca Cola but was removed in 1904.

Colombia

Colombia is not the first place where cocaine originated, but it is the largest producer in the world. Colombia accounts for an estimated 80% of the world's supply. In Colombia, cocaine is on average 15% more profitable than any other legally cultivated crops.
